I also love documenting couples as they become new parents and families with little ones! I love capturing the interactions between families rather than stiffed, posed portraits. This also makes it really fun for the kids!
I capture all of those special moments from maternity sessions to newborn, family, and senior sessions. Below are some galleries of favorite images taken over the years. Keep scrolling and you will see a list of frequently asked questions.
Once you reach out, we will brainstorm location ideas for your shoot and date options that work for everyone!
What is the typical cost of a portrait session?
Portrait sessions start at $495. All sessions include 1 hour of coverage and an online gallery site with downloading of high and web resolution images. Custom albums and print options are available as well. Please contact me for the full pricing sheet.
Where are you based?
I am based out of St. Michaels, Maryland on the eastern shore where I grew up. In addition to Maryland, I am available for sessions in Virginia, DC, Pennsylvania, Delaware and beyond. The above pricing is for photography in the Easton, St. Michaels, and Oxford areas of Maryland. Please contact me for pricing in locations other than these areas and I will be happy to provide a minimal travel fee. During some winter months, I may be sailing in the Bahamas where I am available for sessions with no extra travel fee!
What kinds of portraits do you photograph?
Maternity, newborn, family, senior, couples and engagement sessions
What is your style?
I consider myself a documentary photographer capturing the expressions and personalities of those in front of the camera. This is a time for you to have fun, not to pose stiffly! For kids, it’s a time for them to play with Mom and Dad and explore. This is how the great expressions are captured.
What location should we choose?
I like to choose a location that is significant to you or your family. We will talk before the session so I can get an idea of your personality, interests, hobbies, etc., to determine the best spot. For newborns, the home makes for the best spot using the nursery and other personal elements around your house. If your little one is born during the warm season, an outdoor on location session will work as well.
What do I wear and can we change outfits?
For families and children, go casual and comfortable or dressy casual for a more dressed up look. Avoid matching too closely and do a mix of patterns and solids. Don't be afraid to throw in bright colors and fun jewelry! For seniors, 2-3 outfits will give some great variety. For newborns and babies, 1-2 simple outfits work great as too many outfit change can make for a fussy baby! Diaper covers are also a great option for newborns.
Do I have the rights to use my photos?
Yes, you are free to prints images as you wish and make copies of the files on your USB. They are yours, have fun with them!
When can I expect my online gallery after the session?
Expect your online gallery to be emailed to you within 2-3 weeks after your session.
How does the online gallery site work?
The online gallery site is an online album of your final images. This is just another way to view your images and to pass them on to family and friends. Prints can also be ordered directly from this site.
What equipment do you use?
My primary cameras are a Canon EOS R5 and R6. Other equipment includes 600 EX II flashes, a variety of Canon lenses, and various accessories.
How do I go about selecting photos for my album?
If you have selected a custom album in your package, I will send along instructions for how to go about choosing images. The instructions will include the number of photos to select and your preferences for the cover such as photo and materials.
Do you have any tips for newborn sessions?
If we are doing an at home session, crank up the heat or turn down your a/c so it's a warmer than usual. Newborns love to be warm and all bundled up and this will make your little one much happier during your shoot! If we are using a particular blanket, we can throw it in the dryer for a few minutes before we use it.
It's always a great idea to feed your little one right before we start the shoot. A full baby is a happy baby!
Keep outfits changes minimal. I recommend 1-2 outfits or just using a simple diaper cover so we can show a lot of skin.
I recommend documenting your newborn within the first two weeks of life. The younger the baby, the more sleepy they will be making sessions much smoother. It is also wonderful to capture your little one when they are at their smallest so you can look back and see how much they have grown each month!
I love getting your emails and learning more about you and what you are looking for in your photographer. I am here to answer any questions you have and make the process simple and fun!
