About Laura

Hello

I am a photographer, storyteller, and sailor here to capture your moments of life and love with a mix of documentary and fine art photography. I have a love for weddings on the water and especially those with boats involved!

I am based on the Chesapeake Bay of Maryland and the Bahamas. Part of the year you will find me in the St. Michaels area on the eastern shore of Maryland where I grew up. The other part of the year I am often sailing in the Bahamas and photographing destination weddings.

In addition, I am available for wedding and portrait shoots in DC, Virginia, Delaware, Pennsylvania and beyond. I love to travel so please reach out for destination travel rates!

I started my business in 2005 and have documented over 400 weddings to date and hundreds of portrait sessions. I absolutely love what I do and would love to document your special moments!

My Story

My interest in photography started back in high school in Salisbury, Maryland while taking a darkroom photography class. I decided to study photography in college at the University of Delaware and also major in business and marketing. After photographing a few weddings for friends, I was hooked and haven't looked back since! Today I have documented over 400 marriages and I still can't get enough of them. I have so much joy documenting such a happy and special day in people's lives. With weddings came portrait sessions including newborns, family, maternity, and more, all of which I love documenting those fun expressions and interactions.

I am currently based in the St. Michaels area on the eastern shore of Maryland. Growing up, I spent many weekends and summers sailing the Chesapeake Bay with my family out of Cambridge. We would visit the many waterfront towns including Oxford, Rock Hall, Annapolis, Tilghman, Secretary, and more. I also spent a lot of time on our old dovetail workboat, Dorothy Lee, which has been recently donated to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. I absolutely love living on the shore and raising my two sons here. After starting my business, I discovered all of the beautiful venues throughout the area that I love shooting at. I also love to traveling to the Bahamas and documenting destination weddings!

About Laura

About Laura NS

Photographer, storyteller, coordinator, artist, friend, and romantic documenting unscripted moments of life and love.

Hair & makeup, wedding-day jitters, walking down the aisle, your first kiss as man and wife, the romance, excitement, tears of joy, family, friends and love. You will wonder – How will I remember all of this? I will capture the essence of your special day so that you can remember all of the special moments, and the result of all the hard work that you put into planning and organizing the day. I capture the event in sequence, documenting the most precious moments and the story of your wedding so that it will live forever.

I am based out of Easton, Maryland on the eastern shore where I grew up. In addition to Maryland, I am available for portraits and weddings in Virginia, D.C., Delaware, Pennsylvania and beyond.

During the winter months, you can often find me sailing in the Bahamas where I am available for destination wedding and portrait photography. I also travel all over the world for photography assignments and have photographed destination weddings in Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

I look forward to documenting your most special moments and here are a few fun facts about me!

  1. I have that wedding-day giddiness when I photograph weddings, it’s something I absolutely love documenting. Maybe it’s the girly side of me? I am always honored to be a part each and every wedding I photograph and to capture those important moments!
  2. I am a no stress person and tend to have a calming effect on people.
  3. I have the inability to procrastinate. I just can’t!
  4. I believe that photography is one of the most important aspects of the wedding day. It’s the one thing you have afterwards to visualize the day and I take that to heart.
  5. It is your wedding day, not mine. I am here to document your unique day and love creating photographs capturing the personalities of you, your family and friends.
  6. I prefer to wear socks in churches while shooting a wedding ceremony. This makes me extra quiet during the service!
  7. I wouldn’t have this business without the support and business instinct I gained from my father. I lost my father in 2016 but I will always remember how proud he was of the success of my business.
  8. I am an extremely organized person.
  9. I love the feeling I get when a bride and groom receive their photos and are thrilled with the results!
  10. I love to cook and the final product is typically Italian or Asian.
  11. I was born and raised on the Eastern Shore of Maryland which makes me very fond of blue crabs and sailing. I currently sail a Leopard 44 catamaran with my boyfriend on the Chesapeake Bay and in the Bahamas. See photo above!
  12. I love looking for those interesting angles, even if it involves crawling on the floor or climbing on top of furniture.
  13. I am a runner but only prefer running outdoors on back roads with my son in his stroller!
  14. I love watching any chick flick that involves a wedding. I just can’t get enough of weddings I guess!
  15. My primary cameras are Canon 5D Mark IV’ and III’s, both of which I love.
  16. I became a Mom at the end of 2012 and I couldn’t be happier watching my son Nolan grow up!
